Dear Hanno and Ineke,
Thank you so much for your honest and thoughtful message—and especially for the trust you’re placing in me by offering the advance of €3,000. I truly appreciate it more than words can say, especially during such a difficult time.
Please know that I completely understand your concerns and that we share the same goal: to help as many animals as possible in the most responsible and impactful way. I am truly grateful for your willingness to support this mission, and I want to assure you that I do my very best to make every bit of help count.
The debt I have at the clinics is not just from the last three emergency cases. It’s the result of constant efforts over time—responding to emergencies, paying for surgeries, treatments, vaccinations, and weekly spayings in different areas where people reach out for help. I never turn a blind eye to suffering if I can help. For me, every life matters, whether the animal is going to “help” the bigger picture or not.
Of course, I understand that spaying is one of the most important tools we have in the long term—and I am proud to say I’ve managed to organize a large sterilization campaign this August in the village of Părău, together with amazing partners. It will help prevent hundreds of unwanted births.
I also want to explain how I’ve reached such a large number of dogs. Over the years, I’ve cared for many puppies born or rescued from the streets. During the pandemic, several of the international organizations I worked with that were helping rehome my dogs sadly had to close. Without those rehoming opportunities, many puppies simply grew up in the shelter, and the numbers slowly increased. It was never planned or wanted—but I couldn’t throw them back on the street. So I kept doing my best.
In many moments, the support of my family—especially my aunt in the USA—was the only reason I was able to continue. Without her help, I would have never gotten this far. But now that help is no longer constant, and I’m trying to build new ways to sustain the work and give the dogs a future.
I want to reassure you that I am no longer taking in new dogs, unless in extreme emergency. My priority now is stabilizing the situation—finishing the sanctuary, making sure we have enough food and medicine, and continuing spaying campaigns to stop the suffering before it starts.
Yes, it’s exhausting. But I gave these dogs my word that they would never be abandoned again—and I will never give up on them.
Thank you again from my heart for your honesty, your support if still wanted, and for believing in me. I promise to use your help as wisely as possible, and to keep you informed every step of the way.
With warmest regards and deep gratitude,
Georgiana
