Nearly 1000 animals in dire need have been taken care of by Daniela.
This time please pay attention to Daniela in Romania, who has helped many strays in need since she was a child.
A small pup with paralyzed back legs was the first she helped. She lifted the animal, hugged her and gave her the beautiful name Mariuta.
With a lot of patience, vet visits, food and unconditional love, she has ensured that this animal can now lead a happy life.
Unfortunately, she lost her hind legs, but she has now become the shelter's mascot: Mariuta's Shelter.
And then it went smoothly, very smoothly. Now there are no less than 700 dogs, 160 (!) Horses, of course a lot of cats and a few cows, goats, donkeys, sheep and poultry. And the number is only increasing...
Not enough for her animals every day...
It is still the middle of winter in Romania and all animals actually need extra feed to stay warm at often minus 15 degrees of frost.
Due to the many extra animals recently, Daniela's funds are almost completely gone. Her dogs already have to be rationed.
She can sometimes get some apples from surrounding farmers for the horses and donkeys, but it remains a big task every day to be able to feed her enormous number of animals.
A thousand mouths to feed...
Her 160 horses had been hit, neglected, badly abused, dumped. Refurbishing such large animals entails enormous costs, you can guess that.
Hay, straw, silage maize, biks, nutritious pellets, they can't be dragged along. And the winter lasts so long, in Romania at least until April.
Daniela has about a thousand mouths and mouths to feed, but it is continuous, but the question is whether it will work.
Impressive… that's the word that comes to mind at the Mariuta shelter.
A woman who has literally spent her entire life rescuing and caring for countless animals in miserable conditions. Doesn't he need help?

- The number of (stray) animals that we have been able to help in our existence has reached 500,000.
- And we have now welcomed more than two million visitors to our Dutch website.
We will continue with everything, but still nice to see that we could help so many animals together with you. And that there is increasing interest in that work...

Record yield deposit box at supermarket Albert Heijn, Rotterdam-Ommoord!
Animal lovers regularly ask supermarkets whether our foundation can also be the Charity for a while at their deposit box or column.
This is also the case at the Albert Heijn branch on the Hesseplaats in the Ommoord district in Rotterdam. The success afterwards was great with no less than € 536.05!
That is a record amount and was collected by all visitors to this beautiful and attractive supermarket!

Volunteers wanted to help cats on the island of Skiathos.
For many years we have had a pleasant cooperation with the English foundation Skiathos Cats.
They are doing a wonderful job for the large numbers of cats on that Greek island. Even with sterilization projects.
They are looking for volunteers again for the rest of this year. If you enjoy taking care of cats and kittens, you can sign up for it.

We received a wonderful check from Paardekooper Packages!
It was a very nice idea that was devised by the management of packaging specialist Paardekooper for Christmas:
Every member of staff could register a Charity and a few would be selected by lot, good for a check of € 1,000 each.
Our foundation was one of the lucky ones through Malu and above chairman Hanno Berger who received the check sent (for extra sterilizations)!

Another wonderful financial result for our foundation in 2022!
Our Quint has again done a great job as a bookkeeper and has also neatly processed all income and expenditure of the past year.
We were able to record almost € 600,000 in income (rounded off). That is of course about € 222,000 less than in 2021, but in that year we received more than € 380,000 extra from two wills.
Without those legacies, that means an increase in 2022 of € 158,000, in other words 19%.
As you are used to from us, our costs were again very low in percentage terms, at 3.6%, which was even lower than 4.8% in 2021.
At most foundations, many tens of percent of salaries, rent, transport and other costs are creamed off for this.
